Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Dermi. The important parts: Dermi is cosmetic guidance rather than medical advice, and Apple handles your subscription.

Last updated September 8, 2026

Dermi is not a medical device. It scores what is visible in a photo and suggests a cosmetic skincare routine. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, it cannot detect skin cancer or any other disease, and it is not a substitute for a dermatologist. If something on your skin is changing, painful, bleeding, or simply worrying you, see a clinician — do not wait for a score to change.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By downloading or using Dermi you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be at least 13 years old, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.

2. What Dermi does

Dermi analyses a selfie and returns cosmetic scores for visible attributes — breakouts, redness, texture, dark spots, pores, fine lines and how hydrated your skin appears — along with a per-zone breakdown and a suggested routine. Scores are an estimate produced by an automated system. They are designed to be consistent from scan to scan so that change is meaningful, not to be clinically precise, and small differences between scans may reflect lighting, angle or ordinary measurement variation rather than a real change in your skin.

3. Not medical advice

Nothing in the app is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and no doctor-patient relationship is created by using it. Product and ingredient suggestions are general cosmetic guidance. You are responsible for deciding what you put on your skin: patch-test new products, read their labels, follow their directions, and stop using anything that irritates you. Talk to a clinician before acting on anything in the app if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescription topicals or oral medication for your skin, or managing a diagnosed skin condition.

4. Your account

You are responsible for the account you sign in with and for what happens under it. Give us accurate information, do not share your account, and tell us if you think someone else has access to it.

5. Subscriptions, trials and billing

Dermi offers auto-renewing subscriptions. They are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, charged to your Apple Account, and governed by Apple’s terms in addition to these.

  • Free trial. A new subscription may begin with a free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before that period ends.
  • Cancelling. Cancel in your Apple Account settings: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Dermi › Cancel Subscription, or through Manage Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds. Apple processes all App Store refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly, but if something went wrong on our side, email us and we will support your request.
  • Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, it takes effect at your next renewal and Apple will ask for your consent where required.

6. Your content

Your photos and answers stay yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service: to process your scan photo in order to score it, to store the resulting thumbnail and scores in your account, and to show them back to you. That licence ends when the content is deleted. We do not use your photos to train models. How long each piece of data lives is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Only upload photos of yourself, or of someone who has agreed to it. Do not upload anything unlawful or anything you do not have the right to upload.

7. Acceptable use

  • Do not reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the scoring model or prompts.
  • Do not scrape the service, hammer it with automated requests, or resell access to it.
  • Do not present Dermi’s output as a medical assessment, or use it to advise others in a clinical capacity.
  • Do not interfere with the security or integrity of the service.

8. Our intellectual property

The app, the site, the Dermi name and logo, and the scoring system behind them belong to Dermi. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own, non-commercial use. Nothing else is granted.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. We may update these terms; if a change is material, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use Dermi after that means you accept it.

10. Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings — remember to cancel your subscription with Apple separately. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dermi is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that scores are accurate for every person, skin tone, lighting condition or camera, or that following a suggested routine will produce any particular result.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dermi is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of your use of Dermi. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for Dermi. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any warranty Apple is required to provide, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction — except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these terms do not take away.
